Uttaradi math seer injured in Hubballi road accident, declared out of danger

Sri Satyatma Teertha Swami, the seer of the Uttaradi math, was injured in a road accident near Hubballi on Saturday night, the math said. It later clarified that he was out of danger and receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city. The SUV carrying the seer crashed near the Water Park on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway.

He had been travelling from Dharwad to Savanur in Haveri district when the accident occurred. Several other people travelling in the vehicle, including Sri Shashidharacharya, were also injured. They were taken to a private hospital in Hubballi for treatment, according to the account of the incident.

Vidyadhishacharya Guttal, the chief executive officer of the Uttaradi math, issued a clarification about the accident. He appealed to devotees not to pay attention to speculation circulating about the seer’s condition. The clarification said the seer had sustained only minor internal injuries and that there was no reason for devotees to panic.

It also asked people to pray for his health and for the wellbeing of everyone involved in the accident. The math did not provide further details about the other injured people or specify the nature of their injuries. The available information said they were taken to hospital after the crash and were under treatment.

The incident was reported on September 27, after the accident near Hubballi the previous night. The math’s statement was intended to correct reports about the seer’s condition and to reassure devotees that he was not in danger.
