Uttarakhand’s final electoral roll contains 71.58 lakh voters, nearly nine lakh fewer than were registered when the special intensive revision began in June. The Chief Electoral Officer said more than 129,000 voters were added after claims and objections, while the Congress questioned the deletions and demanded constituency-level details.

Uttarakhand’s final electoral roll contains 71.58 lakh voters after a special intensive revision that removed nearly nine lakh names from the register, the State’s Chief Electoral Officer, B.V.R.C. Purushottam, said on Saturday. The roll published on October 3 includes 1,29,872 newly enrolled voters.

When the revision began in June, the State had 79,60,762 registered voters. The first draft, published on July 14, contained 71,33,785 names. Officials accepted claims and objections until August 13 and continued hearings and disposal of cases until September 28.

Mr. Purushottam said the final roll had about 25,000 more names than the draft because 1,04,708 names were deleted after claims and objections while more than 1.29 lakh were added. The final list comprises 37,37,701 men, 34,21,036 women and 212 voters from the third gender.

It includes 72,656 voters aged between 18 and 19 and 1,22,892 voters above 80. The State has 12,543 polling stations. The Chief Electoral Officer said people left out of the final roll, as well as newly eligible voters, could apply through Form 6 online on the ECINet app or offline through their Booth Level Officer.

A special enrolment campaign is due to begin, including visits by officials to identify missing voters and assist young and first-time voters. Officials will compare the current roll with the pre-revision list and share information with booth-level agents of recognised political parties. Camps will also be held in night shelters, labour colonies and for homeless and marginalised communities.

Dehradun recorded the highest number of voters placed in the “uncollectable” ASDD category, at 1,86,008, followed by Udham Singh Nagar with 1,77,673 and Haridwar with 1,30,203. Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana criticised the final roll and demanded complete Assembly constituency-wise details of deleted voters. He alleged irregularities in Forms 6 and 7 and called for the restoration of deleted names, while saying the party did not accept the revision’s additions and deletions.
