Vijayawada temple seeks artistes for Dasara cultural programmes

The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam has invited applications from eligible artistes and cultural troupes to perform during the Dasara Sarannavarathri celebrations at Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada. Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Nayak said the festivities would run from October 11 to 20 and include devotional music, dance and other cultural programmes.

Application forms are available on the temple’s official website. Applicants may download the form, complete it and submit it to the temple authorities by post or in person. Applications may also be emailed to endow-eosdmsd@gov.in.

The deadline for applications is October 5. Nayak said submissions received after that date would not be considered. Under the temple’s rules, each troupe may have a maximum of six artistes: one main performer and five accompanying artistes.

The same six members alone will be permitted to enter as a group for darshan of the presiding deity. Applicants must provide copies of relevant diplomas, degrees or postgraduate qualifications in fine arts, details of experience, newspaper clippings of previous performances, photographs and appreciation certificates. The main artiste must additionally submit the first page of a bank passbook showing the account number and IFSC code, along with an Aadhaar number and mobile phone number.

Artistes skilled in classical music, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Harikatha, Bhakti Ranjani, bhajans, Burrakatha, Kolatam, drama and other traditional forms may apply. Further information is available through the temple’s toll-free number, 1800 425 9099.
