Two teams from BITS Pilani secured the top positions in the southern regional round of the NTPC Electron Quiz 2026 held in Hyderabad on Saturday. The regional competition took place at the JNTU Auditorium in Kukatpally and brought together engineering and management students from institutions across the southern region. Participants were tested on knowledge, analytical ability, presence of mind and awareness of developments in technology, business and management.
NTPC executive director for engineering Deepak inaugurated the event and encouraged participants to approach the competition with curiosity and confidence. and Achintya Naik of BITS Pilani finished first. Their institute-mates R. Shyam Sundar and Sai Sreerama M.
were runners-up. The third position went to Kritigya Sharma and M. Jain of the Institute of Public Enterprise.
The result gave BITS Pilani both of the first two places in the regional round. The top two teams will now advance to the semi-finals in New Delhi. They will represent the southern region and compete against teams that qualify from other regional rounds.
