Two arrested after Oyo kidnapping as police pursue victim’s abductors

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the reported kidnapping of 38-year-old Nathaniel Peter at Layeri Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, in Oriire Local Government Area. Police said the arrests followed a report about the incident and have produced leads for the investigation. The command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, identified the suspects as Muhammadu Abubakar and Jayun Danali, aged 17.
He said both were assisting investigators with information about the abduction and the people allegedly involved. According to the police account, armed men invaded a family compound at about 4:20 a.m. on September 24.
Preliminary findings indicated that three men forced their way into Peter’s room and took him from the premises. The assailants were said to have escaped through the National Reserve Forest. Police also alleged that they took a Hajue motorcycle and Peter’s mobile phone during the incident.
The report was made at about 5:50 p.m. by a resident of the community. Ayanlade said officers went to the scene after receiving the report and began preliminary assessment and investigation.
He said the arrests had provided useful investigative leads towards identifying and apprehending other people connected with the case. The command said it was working with other security agencies in coordinated operations aimed at rescuing Peter and arresting other fleeing members of the alleged gang. It urged residents of affected communities to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.
