APC chieftain tells Wike to put FCT services ahead of political disputes

All Progressives Congress chieftain Yakubu Sani has urged Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike to give priority to governance and workers’ welfare instead of political exchanges with opponents. Sani said the minister should concentrate on delivering President Bola Tinubu’s mandate in Abuja. Sani, founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance, made the appeal in a statement.
He said infrastructure projects should be accompanied by attention to teachers, healthcare workers and civil servants, as well as the daily problems faced by FCT residents. He cited inadequate water supply, indiscriminate parking and refuse disposal as issues requiring greater attention. Sani said building roads and bridges without addressing the welfare of the people who provide public services would leave important aspects of development unattended.
The APC chieftain also criticised the use of project commissioning ceremonies for political attacks. He advised Wike to allow the quality of projects delivered under his supervision to demonstrate his performance rather than using such occasions for confrontational political rhetoric. Sani contrasted Wike’s approach with that of Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom he described as working and organising quietly.
He said Wike could strengthen his political standing by showing that effective governance was the priority of his tenure as minister. Wike has continued to promote a political coalition in Rivers State in support of Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
