According to a government press release, the programme will include 6,000 km of cement-concrete roads costing an estimated ₹2,700 crore and 9,500 km of bitumen roads at ₹7,550 crore. The plan also provides for 22,000 mini Gokulams, or cattle sheds, for dairy farmers.
The government has estimated that work on the sheds will cost ₹300 crore. A further ₹225 crore has been earmarked for horticultural plantations across 50,000 acres. The programme also includes 1,000 km of “magic drains”, estimated at ₹110 crore.
Bus shelters, gram panchayat buildings and Rachabanda platforms will be developed with an allocation of ₹200 crore, the release said. The Centre’s share of the total estimated expenditure will be ₹5,391 crore, while the State will contribute ₹5,694 crore. The government said funding would be drawn from several schemes and institutions, including ₹1,750 crore under VB-G RAM G, ₹3,800 crore through the Global Horticulture Hub initiative and ₹2,000 crore from NABARD, SASCI and other sources.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department said earlier phases had already delivered roads, cattle sheds, farm ponds, horticultural plantations, water troughs, soak pits and drains. The government described the third phase as an effort to expand rural infrastructure by combining Central and State funds.
