APC campaign coordinator predicts South-West win for Tinubu in 2027

Former Osun Central senator Olusola Adeyeye has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will retain the South-West in the 2027 presidential election if the All Progressives Congress remains united. Adeyeye, who coordinates the South-West for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, made the claim during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. He said parties that treated the election as easy would be making a mistake but expressed confidence in an APC victory.

He said the party would “win big” in the region and argued that no party could defeat the APC in the South-West if its members remained united. He also predicted that the APC would win Osun State. Adeyeye cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to argue that losing the South-West would not necessarily prevent a candidate from winning the presidency, although he insisted he did not expect Tinubu to lose the region.

Asked about former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola and the African Democratic Congress, Adeyeye questioned the party’s performance in the August 15, 2026 governorship election and Aregbesola’s showing in Osun Central. He nevertheless acknowledged Aregbesola’s popularity, saying the former governor would be difficult to defeat if he were a candidate. Adeyeye argued, however, that Aregbesola could not automatically transfer his personal following to another person.

He stressed that unity would be decisive, saying any party entering the election divided could lose. The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, according to Channels Television’s report.
