Otti urges former investors to return as Abia promotes new opportunities

Abia Governor Alex Otti has appealed to investors who left the state, as well as new investors, to return and take advantage of improvements in infrastructure and the business environment. He said ongoing projects, particularly in Aba, were opening opportunities for businesses and creating jobs.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has urged investors who relocated from the state to return, saying his administration has created a more favourable environment for business and investment. Otti made the appeal on Sunday while commissioning a hospitality facility built by investor Owelle Greg Okafor, the chief executive of ORIS Signature Hotel, in Aba. He said the state’s infrastructure programme was creating new opportunities for businesses.
The governor said the transformation of Aba followed deliberate efforts to address infrastructure deficiencies and improve the city’s environment. He recalled the former condition of Port Harcourt Road, saying the government had cleared obstructions and debris and rehabilitated the road. Otti said wider infrastructure development across Abia would further unlock investment opportunities.
He urged investors and residents who had left Aba to return and take advantage of the changes. “Time is ripe for investment in Abia,” he said, warning that those who delayed could find it harder to secure opportunities after others had entered the market. The governor assured prospective investors that his administration would continue providing infrastructure and other conditions needed for businesses to operate.
He said the hotel project would create employment, contribute to the state’s gross domestic product, reduce poverty and increase internally generated revenue. Otti also commended Okafor for investing in Aba, saying the project would contribute to the state’s priority of creating jobs for residents and provide accommodation for travellers and other visitors.
