Ekiti promotes Arinta Waterfall as tourism investment destination

The Ekiti State Government has said it is positioning tourism as a source of economic growth, employment and investment, with Arinta Waterfall identified as a key destination for development. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by the Director-General of the state Bureau of Tourism Development, Wale Ojo-Lanre, spoke on Sunday during the 2026 World Tourism Day celebration at Ipole-Iloro. The event focused on digital technology and artificial intelligence in tourism.
Oyebanji said Ekiti was open to investors and ready to partner with communities seeking to turn tourism resources into viable economic opportunities. He said Arinta Waterfall could be developed into a world-class tourist centre and assured investors of potential returns. Ojo-Lanre described the site as a notable Nigerian waterfall with seven waterfalls within the location.
He said selecting it for the state’s World Tourism Day event was intended to raise its visibility and attract visitors and investors. He added that digital platforms and artificial intelligence could help communities market destinations globally, reach wider audiences and improve visitors’ experiences. The Technical Adviser on Youth Inclusion, Ayo Ojo, said Arinta had been designated a tourism laboratory for deploying such technologies.
The Olupole of Ipole-Iloro, Oba Ezekiel Oladele, called for infrastructure, professional management, environmental protection and private-sector investment. He said development could create jobs and income but should not damage the community’s environment or cultural heritage. Participants also urged the use of digital maps, virtual tours, online booking services and social media to promote the waterfall.
