Court remands influencer and two others in alleged cocaine export case
A Lagos Federal High Court has ordered the remand of lifestyle influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, known as KC Luxury, and two co-defendants over alleged cocaine trafficking and money laundering. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency alleges that 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine was prepared for shipment to the United Kingdom.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded lifestyle influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, and two other defendants over alleged cocaine trafficking and money laundering. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arraigned Michael, Boniface Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo on a 22-count charge. The allegations include conspiracy, cocaine trafficking, illegal export of narcotics and money laundering.
All three defendants pleaded not guilty. The NDLEA alleges that 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine, valued at about N39bn, was prepared for export to the United Kingdom between July 28 and August 1, 2026. According to the charge, the drugs were concealed in five consignments sent through a Lagos courier company under the name Yemi Ejide.
The prosecution further alleged that N13.2m was transferred from an account belonging to Mallamawa Ventures to BOT Express Logistics as payment for shipping the consignments. It said Michael moved billions of naira through several companies and personal accounts in transactions allegedly linked to drug proceeds. Sixteen counts against Michael concern alleged money laundering.
The agency also accused him of using suspected proceeds to acquire vehicles and landed property, failing to declare his assets and unlawfully possessing cocaine intended for export. The NDLEA said the defendants conspired with Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, who were arrested in London. Prosecutor Abu Ibrahim opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations.
The court ordered that the defendants remain in NDLEA custody and adjourned the case until October 4, 2026, for a ruling on their bail applications. Michael was arrested on August 13 at Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to travel to Paris.
