Hong Kong Airlines flight HX676 returned safely to Hong Kong after the crew suspected that its landing gear had not fully retracted following take-off. All 160 passengers were reported safe, and the airline arranged a replacement flight about two and a half hours later while the aircraft underwent inspection.

A Hong Kong Airlines flight bound for Okinawa returned to Hong Kong on Sunday after its crew suspected that the landing gear had not fully retracted following take-off. Flight HX676 departed Hong Kong at 8.57am. The airline said the crew decided to return to the airport to ensure safety, following standard procedures.

The aircraft landed safely at 10am, and no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew. Hong Kong Airlines said it had arranged an alternative flight for the 160 affected passengers. The replacement flight departed at 12.07pm, according to information on the airline’s website.

The passengers’ journey was delayed by about two and a half hours. The aircraft involved in the incident is undergoing a comprehensive inspection. The airline said it had reported the matter to the relevant authorities and would cooperate fully with any subsequent investigation.

Hong Kong Airlines described flight safety as its foremost priority and apologised to passengers for the disruption. It also thanked them for their understanding and cooperation. The Airport Authority said the flight had requested permission to return to Hong Kong airport and that airport crews had been placed on standby.

The source material did not provide details of the suspected fault beyond the incomplete retraction of the landing gear.
