Nigeria’s APC chapter in Taraba State says it will mobilise voters for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 elections. The pledge was made at the launch of a door-to-door movement, amid separate efforts by allies including Nyesom Wike to build support for Tinubu.

Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress in Taraba State has pledged to mobilise voters for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections. State party chairman Abubakar Bawa made the commitment in Jalingo during the inauguration of the Taraba chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots organisation supporting Mr Tinubu’s re-election. Mr Bawa said the APC was confident of its prospects in Taraba and would use its party structures to seek victory at every level.

The organisation is expected to conduct household and community visits and mobilise in churches, mosques and local government areas. The initiative comes as political actors backing Mr Tinubu pursue different organisational approaches. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has promoted a Rainbow Coalition that he says is intended to support the president’s re-election while allowing the Peoples Democratic Party to field candidates in other contests.

Danladi Baido, director-general of the Tinubu-Shettima campaign organisation in Taraba, said the party would build on its performance in the 2023 presidential election. Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo, who founded the movement, urged residents to support a second term for Mr Tinubu. Mr Ekpemupolo said the president’s reforms required time to deliver lasting results and argued that continuity would help consolidate them.

He also linked Mr Tinubu’s re-election with Governor Agbu Kefas’s development plans. Mr Kefas, who backed the mobilisation exercise, said residents were seeing the effects of federal projects and programmes in the state. He promised that his administration would continue to implement and commission development projects.

National coordinator Adekanbi Asuku called on members to take the campaign to homes, religious centres, wards and local government areas. He also attributed improved security in Taraba to APC-led administrations.
