Portugal coach Jorge Jesus says Cristiano Ronaldo could still return to the national team, describing the issue as a misunderstanding that can be resolved. Jesus said there were no bad feelings and that the decision rested with Ronaldo, who must determine what he wants to do next.

Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has said Cristiano Ronaldo remains free to return to the national team, insisting that the situation surrounding the forward can still be resolved. Jesus’s comments were quoted in a post obtained from Fabrizio Romano’s X account on Sunday. He said the decision ultimately belonged to Ronaldo and was not one for the coach to make.

“For me, everything is open. Cris has to decide what he wants to do with his own life,” Jesus was quoted as saying. The coach described the situation as a misunderstanding and said he believed it would be straightforward to settle.

He also stressed that there were no ill feelings between him and the Portugal captain. “It was a misunderstanding and for me it’s easy to resolve this situation,” Jesus said. “There are no bad feelings with Cristiano.” Jesus added that he was not saddened by the uncertainty, saying Ronaldo would decide what he wanted to do.

His remarks leave open the possibility of the veteran forward returning to Portugal’s setup, although no return was announced. The comments place the next step with Ronaldo, with Jesus indicating that the national team’s position remains open if the player chooses to continue his international involvement.
