Naidu directs Andhra officials to partner with IITs and IIMs on staff training

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed state officials to work with the Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management to provide specialised training for government employees. Naidu issued the instruction on Wednesday during a review of services delivered by various departments at his camp office.

He said capacity building and skill development should become continuous processes rather than one-time activities. The chief minister urged employees to improve their skills through online courses. He said government workers should receive regular training in the same way that Indian Administrative Service officers periodically undertake orientation and skills-upgrading programmes.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was ahead of other southern States in capacity building and employee development. Officials told him that employees had undertaken courses through iGOT Karmayogi and were being equipped to work in real time. The meeting also covered Anna Canteens, drinking water supply in urban areas and facilities in welfare hostels.

Officials reported that drinking water conditions in municipalities had improved after recent rains. They said minor problems remained in two Rayalaseema municipalities, while groundwater levels and water availability in Visakhapatnam were improving. Naidu instructed officials to ensure that shortages did not emerge in urban or rural areas and warned them not to become complacent because of the rainfall.

He also called for greater public participation in government programmes. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and other officials attended the review.
