South-West APC youth leader asks Oyebanji to widen youth inclusion in second term

The All Progressives Congress South-West Youth Leader, Adesuyi Daramola, has urged Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to give greater consideration to competent young people in his next set of political appointments. Daramola said the governor’s second term offered an opportunity to strengthen youth inclusion and create meaningful opportunities for qualified Ekiti indigenes to contribute to governance. Oyebanji is scheduled to be inaugurated for a second term on October 16, following his victory in the June 20 Ekiti governorship election.

The governor last week approved the dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals and terminated the appointments of political office holders ahead of the inauguration. Daramola made his appeal in a statement issued by his Media and Publicity Director, Remilekun Oyelowo, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday. He said qualified young people were already capable of contributing to public administration.

He argued that appointing competent youths would strengthen their confidence in government and demonstrate that the administration valued their energy, ideas, expertise and commitment to the state’s development. Daramola also commended outgoing political appointees for their service. He said the next phase should combine fresh perspectives with experience and institutional knowledge, while encouraging young people to continue developing their skills and leadership capacity.
