PDP candidate and Accord aspirant join APC ahead of Oyo 2027 elections

Hammed Taoreed Ademola, a PDP candidate for an Oyo State constituency, and Accord aspirant Adedapo Ojo have joined the APC with supporters. The two politicians said they switched after concluding that the ruling party offered stronger prospects, while APC leaders promised equal opportunities.
A Peoples Democratic Party candidate and an Accord aspirant for the same Oyo State constituency have defected to the All Progressives Congress with supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections. Hammed Taoreed Ademola, the PDP candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency II, and Adedapo Ojo, an Accord aspirant, formally declared for the APC at an event along Old Ife Road in Ibadan. The organisers said “hundreds” of supporters accompanied them.
Ademola, popularly known as Lucky, said he had reviewed the political situation before abandoning the PDP ticket. He claimed that candidates outside the APC would struggle to make progress in the 2027 elections. Ojo described Accord’s activities in the state as an unproductive exercise and urged voters to support the APC.
He said he and his supporters had decided to join what they considered the stronger party. Receiving the new members, APC state chairman Moses Alake Adeyemo assured them that they would have equal opportunities. He urged them to work for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The party’s Oyo governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also welcomed the defectors and promised fairness to members across the state. He said the APC would seek to run an inclusive administration if elected. Alli outlined pledges including regular payment of workers’ and pensioners’ entitlements, training for workers, and the establishment of an ICT hub in Ibadan within six months.
He also promised similar facilities in other zones before January 2029 and a staffed general hospital in each of the state’s 33 local government areas.
