Peter Fatomilola says he was unaware of Ogogo’s health struggles

Veteran Yoruba actor Peter Fatomilola has said he was unaware that fellow actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was facing health challenges before the matter became public. Fatomilola made the comment in an upcoming interview with African A-List, also known as AfricanaList. A clip from the interview was posted on Saturday.

Ogogo’s daughter had earlier appealed publicly for assistance with her father’s condition. The actor later died and was buried in Ogun State on August 23, according to the source material. Fatomilola described Hassan as being like a son to him and said he would have contacted people with greater knowledge if he had known about the illness.

He also indicated that he did not want to discuss the matter extensively in public. “Taiwo Hassan, in the industry, he is like a son to me. Personally, I can’t say I heard that he had challenges,” Fatomilola said, referring to the point at which the actor’s daughter spoke publicly.

He advised people to seek guidance from those better equipped to respond when they learn that someone is facing a serious challenge. He said that if he had known about Hassan’s situation, he would have informed people who were “wiser or more knowledgeable”. The actor also reflected on the death of his senior wife, Adawole.

He said the pair had been building a house before she died, and that construction had reached the lintel stage. “Out of all the things I have been pursuing in life that I wish to accomplish, only one thing is left, which my Lord God has not yet approved,” he said, referring to the unfinished project. The source material says Hassan’s death followed reports of health problems and the public appeal by his daughter for treatment support.
