Railway announces nine special train trips between Mysuru and Rameswaram

South Western Railway will run weekly special trains between Mysuru and Rameswaram during the Dasara, Deepavali and Chhath travel season. The service will operate in both directions from October 5 to December 1, with stops including Bengaluru, Salem, Madurai, Ramanathapuram and other stations.

The Mysuru–Rameswaram Weekly Express Special, numbered 06263, will leave Mysuru at 6.35pm every Monday from October 5 to November 30. It is scheduled to reach Rameswaram at 11am the following day.
The return service, train number 06264, will depart Rameswaram at 3.30pm every Tuesday from October 6 to December 1. It will arrive in Mysuru at 7.45am on the following day. The railway said there would be nine trips in each direction.
The trains will stop at Mandya, Ramanagaram, Kengeri, KSR Bengaluru, Bengaluru Cantonment, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal and Karur. Other scheduled stops include Dindigul, Madurai, Manamadurai, Paramakkudi and Ramanathapuram. The service therefore provides additional connections along the route between the two destinations during the festival period.
Each special train will have 21 coaches. The composition will include two AC 2-Tier coaches, five AC 3-Tier coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches and four General Second Class coaches. The remaining coaches will comprise a Brake, Luggage and Generator Car and a Second Class Luggage-cum-Brake Van with Divyangjan facilities, according to a South Western Railway press release.
