Former Nellimarla MLA Baddukonda Appala Naidu says his suspension from the YSR Congress Party was unjustified. He argues that the decision was linked to his brother-in-law joining the Telugu Desam Party and says relatives should be able to pursue separate political careers. He will decide his next step after consultations.

Former Nellimarla MLA Baddukonda Appala Naidu has challenged his suspension from the YSR Congress Party, saying the action was taken without a valid reason. Speaking at a press conference in Vizianagaram on Saturday, Appala Naidu alleged that YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had been misled by people he said were responsible for the party’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections.

The former legislator said his brother-in-law, Majji Srinivasa Rao, joining the Telugu Desam Party should not have been grounds for his suspension. He argued that members of the same family could choose different political parties in pursuit of their political careers. “If the relationship is the reason for my suspension, Mr.

Jagan should not continue as YSRCP president as his own sister Y.S. Sharmila Reddy joined the Congress and became its Andhra Pradesh unit president,” he said. Appala Naidu did not provide further details about the suspension decision or say when it was issued.

The available account also does not include a response from Jagan Mohan Reddy or the YSRCP to his allegations. He said he would consult local party leaders and well-wishers before deciding on his future political course. Appala Naidu served as the MLA for Nellimarla before the current dispute.

The source material does not say whether he intends to appeal internally against the suspension or join another party.
