Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka says the State is investing in rural infrastructure and tourism facilities to create jobs and economic opportunities for local young people. He made the remarks while laying the foundation stone for ₹7.9 crore tourism facilities at Chinthakani lake in Khammam district.

He was speaking on Sunday after laying the foundation stone for tourism facilities at Chinthakani lake in Chinthakani mandal of Khammam district. The project has an estimated cost of ₹7.9 crore.

Mr Vikramarka later attended development programmes in the mandal, including the inauguration of road works. He also addressed a gathering of Congress booth-level agents, telling them to ensure welfare schemes reached every household. The Deputy Chief Minister described the State’s fine rice programme as a Telangana model.

He said nearly 1.06 crore families were receiving six kilograms of fine rice each month free of cost. He also cited measures including free bus travel for women, the revival of the DWCRA loan system and a target of providing ₹1 lakh crore in loans. Other schemes he mentioned included Gruha Jyothi, Rajiv Aarogyasri, free breakfast for government school students, a farmers’ loan waiver and investment assistance of ₹12,000 per acre.

Mr Vikramarka said Young India Integrated Residential Schools were being built in every Assembly constituency to international standards. The programme is among the government’s wider development initiatives. Later, he made a surprise inspection of the construction of a 50-bed Community Health Centre at Mudigonda.
