Tompolo-backed group launches Taraba drive for Tinubu’s re-election

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has begun a grassroots campaign in Taraba State in support of President Bola Tinubu’s proposed re-election bid. The group says the administration’s reforms need more time, while Governor Agbu Kefas pledged strong backing and 100 per cent support from the state.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has launched a grassroots mobilisation campaign in Taraba State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election. The campaign was launched in Jalingo by representatives of Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who is the movement’s grand patron. Kestin Pondi represented him at the event.
Tompolo said the Tinubu administration’s reforms required more time to take full effect. He argued that continuity would help consolidate what he described as gains in Taraba and across the country. “Every policy needs time to consolidate; every policy needs time to show dividends,” he said, while acknowledging that reforms could bring challenges before producing benefits.
He also said another presidential term would help ensure that civil servants continued to receive their salaries on time and give Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas more time to develop the state. Tompolo attributed reductions in fuel queues and disruptions to university education to policies of the Tinubu administration. He urged supporters to take the campaign to homes, religious centres, wards, local government areas and polling units.
Governor Kefas said residents were already seeing the effects of federal policies through projects being implemented in the state. He said his administration remained committed to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would continue working with the Federal Government on development projects. “We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr.
President,” Kefas said. He pledged that Taraba would support Tinubu at the election, saying the state was ready to give him “100 percent votes”. The movement’s national coordinator, Sunday Asuku, said abandoning the administration’s reforms would be counterproductive.
The event ended with the donation of 25 campaign vehicles, generators and electronic speakers for grassroots mobilisation.
