Wike’s son presents American passport in Abuja land dispute

Jordan Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, presented his American passport at the FCT High Court in Abuja on Wednesday during proceedings in a $2.1 million land-acquisition dispute. The passport was produced after Justice Sylvanus Oriji ordered Wike to provide it. The order followed a dispute over his whereabouts on dates when the claimants alleged that money was handed to him.
Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited brought the suit. They allege that Wike received $2.1 million in cash to help arrange the acquisition of 30 hectares of land in Katampe and Guzape, Abuja. The claimants said they met Wike in London and later delivered the money in September 2025 in the presence of other people.
They allege that $2 million was intended for his father and $100,000 for Wike himself. They said they later discovered that the plots were owned by a company and demanded a refund after failing to obtain the land. Wike denies receiving the money and says he had no knowledge of the alleged transaction.
During earlier proceedings, he told the court that he was outside Nigeria on the date identified by the claimants and had travelled using his American passport. The claimants’ lawyer also asked Wike to write his name and signature five times each on plain paper. The defence did not oppose the request, which the court granted.
