House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has called on Nigerians to retain faith in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying peace and development are returning. Speaking after a special prayer in Abuja, Abbas also urged voters to re-elect Tinubu so the government can continue its reform programme.

House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying peace and development are gradually returning to the country. Abbas made the comments after attending a special Jumma’at prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary. He represented President Tinubu at the event, according to Channels Television.

The Speaker said Nigeria’s post-independence experience had included both problems and opportunities, but called on citizens not to lose hope. He said the country was moving towards greater peace and development as its democracy progressed. Abbas also urged Nigerians to re-elect Tinubu, arguing that the administration needed more time to complete the reforms it had begun.

He said the government was correcting what he described as accumulated mistakes and missed opportunities from the past. “This anniversary—the 66th—by all accounts signifies Nigeria has come of age,” Abbas said, according to the report. He added that the country was on the right path and that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

The Speaker’s remarks were delivered on behalf of the president, Senate President and members of the National Assembly. He also said Nigerians had finished making sacrifices for the country to become great again, while asking them to give the administration further opportunity to continue its work. Several senior officials attended the prayer session, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, state governors, National Assembly members, ministers and military chiefs.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume was also present. The report did not provide details of specific reforms or development measures cited by Abbas. His comments focused on defending the administration’s direction and encouraging continued public support.
