Andhra Pradesh district launches heritage walk and tourism initiatives

Sri Sathya Sai district Collector A. Shyam Prasad has said protecting the country’s heritage and tourism assets is a responsibility shared by every citizen. He was speaking at World Tourism Day celebrations held at Thimmamma Marrimanu at Gutibayalu village near Kadiri on Sunday.
The 600-year-old banyan tree is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The event included the launch of an ‘Ask AI’ application intended to assist tourists. The Collector also flagged off an Eco and Heritage Walk from Thimmamma Marrimanu to Eswara Malai hillock.
Officials, students and tourists participated in the walk. Folk artistes performed Keelugurraya and Guravayya dances during the programme. Shyam Prasad and Kadiri MLA Kandikunta Venkata Prasad unveiled a plaque for a proposed botanical garden at Eswara Malai.
The garden is intended to grow rare medicinal plants from the Rayalaseema region and serve as an attraction for tourists and students. The Collector said sites including Puttaparthi Prasanthi Nilayam and Thimmamma Marrimanu had placed Sri Sathya Sai district on the tourism map. He said special plans were being prepared to improve infrastructure in the district’s tourist locations.
Joint Collector Maurya Bharadwaj and officials from the Tourism and Forest departments were among those present at the celebrations. The MLA described Thimmamma Marrimanu as a symbol of sacrifice and appealed to the public to help keep tourist destinations free of plastic. He also sought support for organising daily cultural programmes.
