Kerala to upgrade minority youth training centres with digital facilities

Kerala will modernise minority youth training centres across the State by strengthening their digital and technological infrastructure, General Education Minister N. Samsudheen said on Sunday. The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Chavakkad Centre for Continuing Education and Minority Youth Training, established under the State government’s 100-day action programme.

Samsudheen said the government was implementing programmes aimed at the educational and socio-economic advancement of minority communities. He said more than 4,000 people had secured employment through 24 existing training centres and 17 sub-centres across Kerala. As part of the 100-day programme, the centres have been upgraded with closed-circuit television surveillance and digital facilities, the Minister said.

He added that education was changing rapidly at national and international levels and that Kerala needed new learning programmes to respond to those changes. The government was promoting computer education and technology to prepare children for examinations, interviews and the demands of a changing world, Mr. Samsudheen said.

He added that technology was also being integrated into school education. The Digital Square project has been introduced in lower-primary and upper-primary schools, while artificial intelligence, robotics and science programmes are being promoted at the high-school level under the 100-day action programme.
