Kozhikode police honour officers and public safety contributors
Kozhikode City police have held their first Appreciation Day to recognise personnel and members of the public for courage, investigations and contributions to public safety. Officers were honoured for saving a suicide-attempt victim, rescuing a man and his children from a threatened fire, and helping organise the Kerala Police Sports and Athletic Games.
Kozhikode City police have held their first Appreciation Day to recognise personnel and members of the public for exemplary service and contributions to public safety. The event was organised on Saturday, September 26, following a recommendation from the Home department. Awards recognised exceptional courage, investigative skills, conduct and other public safety contributions.
Sub-Inspector M. Saji, Senior Civil Police Officer Sajeesh P. and Home Guard Dhanesh of the Medical College police station were honoured for saving the life of a person who had attempted suicide.
They responded after receiving information through the police control room. Circle Inspector K.P. Abhilash, Assistant Sub-Inspector T.M.
Safiya, Senior Civil Police Officer K. Noufal and Civil Police Officer T.P. Sreejith were recognised for rescuing a man and his children.
Police said the man had locked the children inside a house, opened a gas cylinder and poured diesel over himself while threatening to set himself and the children on fire. The officers intervened together and brought the situation under control. A seven-member team of police personnel and key coordinators involved in organising the Kerala Police Sports and Athletic Games in Kozhikode was also felicitated.
District Police Chief A.P. Shoukathali inaugurated the function at the Kozhikode City Police Club and presented certificates of appreciation. Deputy Commissioner of Police Padam Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police E.
Sunilkumar and assistant commissioners were among those present.
