Nasarawa PDP backs Wike-linked coalition ahead of 2027 election

The Nasarawa State chapter of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party has pledged support for the Rainbow Coalition associated with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2027 general election. The party’s governorship candidate, David Ombugadu, made the declaration on Saturday at the formal launch of his campaign in Lafia, the state capital. Ombugadu said the state’s PDP members had accepted the coalition and would follow Wike’s direction. He promised better healthcare for pregnant women, improved security for farmers and a government that would take account of local needs. He also urged supporters to protect their votes and mobilise voters ahead of the election. PDP National Deputy Chairman Yusuf Agirikwe told the gathering that the party had the mandate of Nasarawa residents to govern the state in 2027.

He called on supporters to organise and defend their votes, saying victory would depend on effective mobilisation.
