Zinox founder opens AI learning centres at two Lagos schools
Zinox chairman Leo Ekeh has commissioned artificial-intelligence technology centres at two secondary schools in Gbagada, Lagos. The facilities, established by the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation and Zinox Group companies, provide computers, AI-enabled screens, renewable power and satellite internet, while the foundation plans scholarships and advanced training for high-performing students.
Zinox founder and chairman Leo Ekeh has commissioned artificial-intelligence technology centres at Gbagada Senior Grammar School and Lanre Awolokun High School in Gbagada, Lagos, in an initiative aimed at expanding access to digital education. The centres were established by the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation in collaboration with Task Systems, TD Africa, Zinox Technologies and Konga Group. Each facility has Zinox all-in-one desktop computers, interactive AI-enabled screens, a renewable-energy system designed to provide power around the clock and two years of Starlink satellite internet connectivity.
The foundation said the equipment would give students and teachers access to online learning resources and help integrate technology into classroom activities. At the commissioning, Ekeh urged students to use the facilities to build skills that could create economic opportunities. He also called on the Federal Government and state governments to increase investment in education and improve teachers’ remuneration.
“An angry or hungry teacher cannot deliver quality content to students. We must consciously raise the quality of education to save this nation,” Ekeh said. The foundation announced plans to provide full university scholarships and advanced technology training to students who distinguish themselves academically.
Its Director of Studies, George Emetuche, said the organisation was working towards producing 1,000 young Nigerians with technology skills and globally recognised qualifications. Emetuche said the first group of scholarship beneficiaries had secured admission to study computer science and computer engineering at universities in Nigeria. The foundation plans to announce their identities later.
The organisation said the Gbagada facilities were its latest education and technology intervention. It reported completing 123 projects across primary, secondary and tertiary institutions over 38 years, including ICT centres at Imo State University, St Augustine University in Epe, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Bakambara Day Secondary School and Holy Ghost College in Owerri.
