The appointments were announced on Friday in a statement by Otti’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma. The governor will chair the council, while his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, will serve as vice-chairman.
Agwu U. Agwu was appointed director-general. Other senior appointments include Dr Eric Egwuibe as director of finance, Dr Chibuzor Obiesili as director of strategy and planning, and Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, as director of legal affairs.
On publicity and special duties, the council named Onyebuchi Ememanka and Dr Christian Anokwuru respectively. AIG Arungwa Nwazue (retd.) will head the security directorate. The zonal coordination positions will be held by Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna for Abia Central, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu for Abia North and Chimaobi Ebisike for Abia South.
The council also appointed coordinators for constituencies across the state, including Ikwuano, the two Isiala Ngwa constituencies, Osisioma, Umuahia, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia, Umunneochi, Aba, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa and Arochukwu. According to Ekeoma’s statement, the arrangement is intended to connect the state leadership with the senatorial zones and individual constituencies for campaign coordination. The council’s inauguration is scheduled for noon on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
Members were instructed to be seated before the governor arrives.
