Anambra State is seeking discussions with potential investors before the launch of its Mixed-Use Industrial City, with authorities highlighting roads, power, water and security as essential requirements. The state executive council also approved measures involving school safety, law enforcement, government land and the institutionalisation of a December cultural programme.

The Anambra State Government has invited potential investors to begin discussions ahead of the launch of its planned Mixed-Use Industrial City, identifying road access, electricity, water supply and security as key requirements for the project. The decision was among resolutions reached at a meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council on Monday at the Light House in Awka, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor. The statement said the industrial city was “poised to launch in earnest” and that the government was actively engaging prospective investors.

It did not provide a launch date, details of the expected investment or the proposed location of the project. The council also resolved to conduct integrity tests on students’ hostels in schools across the state. Mefor said the Material Testing Laboratory would be upgraded and the law establishing it strengthened so that the state could carry out reliable testing.

The council was told that Uga Boys Smart Boarding Secondary School was still admitting students, although applications were limited to prospective boarders because places for day students had already been filled. The government also decided to streamline state law enforcement groups to reduce overlapping responsibilities and conflicts, while improving their effectiveness and accountability. It further resolved to repossess and repurpose occupied government land following reports of encroachment and the need for land for public projects.

Occupiers were advised to leave, with the statement warning that further notice might not be given before enforcement. The council also discussed preparations for Independence Day on October 1 and approved a second edition of the Onwa Dezemba programme in December 2026. The government said the programme would promote cultural and social activities involving Anambra communities at home and abroad.
