Lagos governor reviews security plans before presidential visit and festive season

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reviewed security arrangements with the state’s security chiefs as the state prepares to host President Bola Tinubu and receive more visitors during the end-of-year period. The governor held the meeting on Tuesday at the State House in Marina. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed the meeting in a statement titled “Sanwo-Olu Holds Security Council Meeting.” According to Omotoso, the governor received briefings on security activities and plans to strengthen the system ahead of the forthcoming end-of-year programme.
Sanwo-Olu said the state government would continue taking measures to prevent crime and protect residents and visitors. “We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” the governor said, according to the statement. Omotoso said Lagos would host Tinubu from Tuesday and was also preparing for an expected influx of visitors during the Yuletide.
He said religious and cultural activities were planned across the state, while political activity was increasing following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement that campaigns could begin. Those present included Lagos Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, 9 Brigade Commander Brigadier General A.O. Owolabi, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft Commander Commodore A.
Adams-Aliu and 651 Base Services Group Commander Air Commodore M.A. Imam. The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayodele Ogunsan, also attended.
The governor’s Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, Secretary to the State Government Abimbola Hundeyin and Attorney-General Lawal Pedro were among the other officials at the meeting. The statement did not specify particular security operations or restrictions arising from the review.
